Twitter is quickly growing into one of the most popular social networks, and with good reason: it’s built around quick, 140-character updates. This makes it a great place to communicate with your friends and followers, and for businesses, it’s a great platform to announce promotions, new products, and events. And it’s no surprise why businesses want to take advantage since 52% of Twitter users follow businesses, and 55% of the users who follow a business say so because they “find new products or services to follow.”
Twitter is a fantastic social network, but it can also be pretty intimidating. How can you get yourself more followers, or how can you be sure your tweets are being read? The first step to finding success on this network is scheduling your tweets.
Why do people schedule their tweets on Twitter?
Twitter is famously known as a fast-moving social media platform, with “new” tweets coming and going all the time. That kind of pace can make it challenging to schedule tweets in advance—in fact, Twitter merely recommends you do so. But, if you’re constantly tweeting throughout the day and want to spread your tweets out over several hours or days, scheduling can be a lifesaver.
The feature allows you to schedule Tweets to be published at specific times, so you don’t have to worry about being at the computer all day when you can be out in the world promoting your business.
It’s time to Schedule Your Tweets
Twitter is a great social media platform that can be used to market a brand or product, but in order to do so successfully, users need to learn how to schedule tweets on Twitter. How do you do it? Here are the steps:
Write your tweet.
It is one of the most basic things you can do on Twitter, but many people overlook it. If you want to tweet out something or schedule it for later, you can click the compose button in the Twitter app to start typing a tweet. If you want to link or hashtag something, you can paste the URL.
Select Calendar Icon.
Many Twitter users, at some point, have probably clicked on the calendar icon on the Twitter app. The Calendar feature lets you schedule tweets for later, so if you don’t want to write tweets until a specific time, you can schedule them anytime.
Select the Date and Time.
In order to schedule tweets, you’ll need to select the date and time. You can schedule a tweet up to 140 days in advance. When you schedule a tweet, it won’t be published immediately. It will be scheduled for the date and time you’ve selected and will appear on Twitter then.
When your followers are viewing your tweet, they can see the date and time of when it was originally published. If your followers have set their Twitter accounts to “show everyone” or “no one,” they’ll see the date and time of the tweet, regardless of their location. Fortunately, you can schedule tweets in advance (and even change the date and time later on), so your followers can expect to see your post at the date and time you specified. Find Twitter’s schedule feature in the drop-down menu at the top of your profile, under Settings and Privacy.
Other Things to Consider…
Twitter has a clear advantage over most other social networks when it comes to scheduling tweets. Not only can you schedule tweets in advance, but you can also include links within the tweets as well. You can schedule tweets for re-tweets as well. Like all tweets, Twitter reminds users that scheduled tweets are not a permanent part of the conversation. So, schedule your tweets accordingly and responsibly.
Here are other important things to consider when scheduling your tweet:
Hashtags:
Tweet about a topic, event, or issue taking place around the globe. Hashtags help users find tweets with a certain focus, like #WorldWaterDay, #WorldEnvironmentDay, or #NationalBabyShower. Hashtags can also help people find your tweets.
Mentions:
Mention people in a tweet. This is a good way to say thank you or show gratitude. Also, when tweeting about a topic, mention people in their bios who are experts or who are experts in that field.
Trending Topics:
Depend on trends to find topics that are important to people. For example, when the Superbowl is on TV, the trending topics on Twitter are #SuperBowl, #SuperBowl2019, and #SuperBowl2019Score.
Location:
Location is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing where to schedule your tweets during Twitter’s new scheduling feature. Your audience is all over the world, and targeting your audience by location can significantly increase your engagement.
Millions of Twitter accounts are active each day. The Twittersphere is abuzz with news, rumors, and chatter. You can’t afford to miss out on these conversations as a business. And, you can’t reach as many audiences as you’d like if you’re not scheduling your tweets.
